Recreation Basketball Grades 1-8
This program introduces the game of basketball at all levels to both boys and girls. Coaching efforts will focus on the teaching of basic basketball fundamentals, team play, sportsmanship and fun. Teams will have one practice during the week, and all games will be on the weekend. Games will be played against other teams to introduce the competitive aspect of basketball. ELRD's goal is to emphasize the development of basic basketball skills that each player will need to enjoy and succeed as they progress in the sport.
We always need coaches! This program relies on parent/guardian coaches - If you or someone you know is willing and able to coach, please write YES and enter contact info in the Q&A when registering.
Recreation Registration will close on 10/26 at 4 PM or earlier if cap has been reached.
Non-residents will be automatically waitlisted, and only contacted after registration closes if any spots are available.
Depending on registration numbers, certain divisions may join the Quabbin Basketball League or other neighboring towns in a local rec league.
Grades 3-8 ONLY: Evaluations will be held on 10/29 and 30; more information to follow.
Dates listed on the program are placeholder dates. Your assigned coach will determine practice days/times, and the game schedule will be communicated at a later date.
Grades 3-8 games will begin in December at Birchland Park Middle School. Grades 1 & 2 games will begin in January at Meadow Brook.
*ELRD will not be able to accommodate neither coach nor practice day/time requests. Practice schedules will be determined by coaches' availability. Please keep this in mind if your child participates or is considering participating in another activity during the season.*
