Wrestling
This is an instructional program for grades 1-8 which provides a safe and controlled environment, teaching proper wrestling moves and techniques through demonstration and drills. The program will begin by teaching and/or reinforcing basic wrestling skills and conditioning drills while working to advance participants to a place where they feel prepared and able to attend wrestling competitions.
Wrestlers will be divided into beginner and intermediate/advanced groups based on experience and skill level. Practices will take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. All practices will be held at East Longmeadow High School with official practice times to be determined and communicated out by coaches at a later date.
A T-shirt will be provided. Parents are required to purchase wrestling shoes and headgear in order for their child to participate. Wrestling shoes are required on the mats at all times.
Competitions are not required; however, tournament attendance is strongly encouraged for wrestlers who are ready to compete.
